Yann Tiersen, composer of the soundtrack to Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, plays the keys rather nicely. Perhaps it's too early for thoughtful commentary, or perhaps I am speechless every time I listen to this soundtrack, but I hope to blog more about the magic behind soundtracks. Consider it a product of finally watching Juno, which has a fabulous indie rock soundtrack (despite having a little too much Kimya Dawson, even for such a die-hard fan of The Moldy Peaches that I am).

I agree! The Amélie soundtracks is still one of my favorite movie scores... very much tied to the feeling of the film, but also applicable to a lot of other moods and places.
For credit's sake, it's worth noting that the gentleman in the video is not Yann Tiersen, but a British musician named Dave Thomas, (website here!)
Thank you for that correction! I was wondering if he was Yann or not and there wasn't much info on the videos themselves. I'll edit the post shortly to reflect it...!
